Blog: 5 Awesome Updates to our Chrome Extension

BY IT GLUE | April 27, 2020

With IT Glue’s continuous development model, we build a lot of little improvements that sometimes don’t receive enough publicity. So let’s take a look at some of the features we’ve added to our IT Glue and MyGlue Chrome Extensions that improve the functionality, efficiency and convenience for you to access information. Let’s take a look, shall we?

1. Chromium Edge Support

Microsoft’s newly released Edge browser is built on the Chromium technology of Google Chrome, so users of IT Glue and MyGlue now have a choice between Google Chrome and Chromium Edge as their browser. Learn how to set this up in the IT Glue Knowledge Base.

2. Quick Search

As long as you’re logged in to the Chrome Extension, you’ll be able to access any item via the Search feature, not just passwords. Whatever you’re browsing, you’ll be able to quickly search and find an item in IT Glue, without leaving your screen, just by pressing ‘Q’. This brilliant addition makes the Chrome Extension even more powerful. Let’s say you’re looking up a domain for one of your clients. You’re on the domain host’s website getting information and want to make sure that this reconciles with the information that’s in IT Glue. You’ll be able to make that search happen with a keystroke and without having to leave the domain host’s website.

3. Password Autofill

With this feature, usernames and passwords stored in IT Glue or MyGlue are automatically populated in login fields. This saves you the inconvenience of having to click on the IT Glue logo in the password field in order to select the login credentials. The autofill feature even works if the fields for username and password fall on two separate pages.

The only caveat is that autofill only works when there is only one set of credentials associated with an account. If there are multiple logins, then you’ll have to click on the IT Glue logo in the password field and select from a list of options to choose the correct credential.

4. Create Passwords Within the Chrome Extension

Being able to create passwords within the Chrome Extension eliminates the necessity to be in the IT Glue web app to perform this function, further saving your team time. The password creation feature is the same as you’ll find in the web app, but you don’t need to log in to the web app just to perform this task.

5. Shared Session

When you log into the IT Glue or MyGlue web app, and you already have the IT Glue Chrome Extension on your browser, you’ll be able to start taking advantage of all the benefits of the Chrome Extension right away, no logging in twice.
